Two Police Officers and Two Civilians Injured in Crash

Posted By Pavich Law Group || 25-Jun-2013

Four people were injured in a car accident on the night of June 4. When two police officers were responding to call, their squad car was hit by another car on the South Side of Chicago. A vehicle stopped at the light was also hit. The two police officers and the other two drivers were taken to the hospital. Even though the squad car was knocked on its side, none of the involved parties received life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was cited for damage to city property, failure to reduce speed, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

According to the Illinois Department of Traffic Safety, 88,937 people were injured and 927 people died in motor vehicle accidents in the state of Illinois in 2010. The total cost of the accidents was roughly $5.3 billion in the state of Illinois. The cost of an incapacitating injury was estimated to be over $67,800 and even a "possible injury" was estimated at over $12,000. Passenger cars accounted for 78% of the crashes.
